About the Role

We're looking for a driven Legal Associate to act as the frontline of our legal operations. Our ideal candidate will be obsessed with managing law enforcement requests with absolute precision - ensuring compliance while rigorously defending our company policies. Beyond external engagement, you will deliver airtight administrative and general legal support that keeps the legal department running flawlessly every time and on time, and you must bring a proven track record of doing that.

What You’ll Be Owning

  1. The Law Enforcement Frontline and Advisory: Taking full, end-to-end ownership of all inbound legal and data requests from and visits to law enforcement agencies including scrutinizing every subpoena, warrant, and preservation request.

  2. The Legal Engine Room: Supporting the foundational administrative operations of the legal department, including license application, maintaining flawless document repositories, tracking compliance logs, and organizing contract workflows.

  3. General Legal Execution and Advisory: Stepping up to draft and review standard agreements, assisting other members of the team with tackling day-to-day legal tasks to keep the broader business moving at top speed.

  4. Process Optimization: Continuously building and refining the standard operating procedures for how we handle both high-stakes law enforcement engagements and routine administrative tasks so the legal function scales effortlessly alongside the company.

  • Balancing fast-shifting priorities without breaking the engine

  • You will be navigating the intense pressure of urgent, often time-critical law enforcement demands. You have to move fast, but there is zero room for error.

  • You will constantly need to pivot between time-sensitive external inquiries and the meticulous, deep-focus work.

What We’re Looking For

We are not looking for a checklist of qualifications; we are looking for a highly specific type of legal associate. The person who succeeds in this role is cool-headed in a crisis, obsessively organized, and completely unintimidated by authority.

  • A Strong Legal Foundation: You have a law degree, relevant bar admission, and a working knowledge of .

  • Tactical Communication: We don’t just mean "good email etiquette." You must be able to communicate effectively with law enforcement agencies, while also being able to distill complex legal risks into plain English for internal stakeholders.

  • Unflappable Judgment Under Pressure: You have a proven track record of dealing with complex, high-stakes situations and making fast, accurate decisions without panicking.

  • Meticulous Execution: You are obsessed with the details. You are the kind of person who never misses a filing deadline, catches the typo in any agreement, and takes pride in a perfectly organized digital contract repository.

The Nice-to-Haves (The stretch that sets you apart):

  • Tech or High-Growth Experience: You’ve worked in a fast-paced startup, fintech environment where you had to build the plane while flying it.

  • Law Enforcement Familiarity: Previous direct exposure to dealing with law enforcement or regulatory agencies is a massive plus.

Reporting Line

You’ll report to the Legal Manager and jam regularly with Compliance, Risk, Product and Business.
